Project Overview

The scope of works involved in this project the replacement of ageing air handling infrastructure across various bases in Darwin that have reached end of life. In its place, we installed compatible new systems compliant with current Australian Standards and regulations that were robust enough to cope with Darwin’s challenging climate. See below a list of air handling systems that were replaced:

  • APAC units
  • BMS
  • Chiller systems
  • Cool rooms

Challenges

  • Replacement of in-ceiling air-conditioning equipment and pipework in a working office environment at HMAS Coonawarra
  • Replacement of the BMS at Darwin International Airport
  • Solution development for a hazardous area installation (Explosive Ordinance Inspection Facility)

Successes

  • Achieved a commissioned and balanced chilled water airconditioning upgrade at HMAS Coonawarra with minimum disruption
  • No LTIs
  • Minimum disruption to members, employees and staff in office, mess and bar facilities during works
