Project Overview

Design and construction of rehabilitation and regrading of the Navy road, short track and Beacon road, fire trails within Lancelin Training Area.

The project scope included:

  • Clearing isolated areas of pavement on pavement surfaces
  • Sub-grade preparation in areas of pavement repair; trimming, moisture condition grading and re-compaction
  • Pavement works – supply, place and condition, re-spread and compact limestone wearing course material.

  • Remote location
  • Audit of all HSEQ systems and documentation
  • Maintained and tested emergency communication systems
  • Traffic management controls for 30 km haul roads and intersections
  • Maintained after-hours site security

Successes

  • Project completed before target completion date and under budget
  • No LTIs
  • No defects
  • Achieved accreditation with the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner
  • All earth-moving equipment and labour provided by local businesses
  • Generator equipment, required due to remote location, donated to local rural fire service
