Larrakia Development Corporation and Kennelly Constructions new Joint Venture, Damorma Magama, was recently featured on Aboriginal TV Channel 4 News. Damorma Magama, will carry out the remediation of the old Wagait Tip site on the Cox Peninsula. As part of the requirements for the transfer of land back to traditional owners following the Kenbi Land Claim decision, the remedial clean up of land between Mandorah and Belyuen is needed, which includes Wagait Tip.
The name of the JV, Damorma Magama, comes from a Larrakia reference for a tributary of a river, which sees smaller streams coming together to form part of a larger and stronger body of water. The JV is focused on providing Aboriginal employment and development, capacity transfer and sharing of knowledge between Larrakia Development Corporation and Kennelly Constructions.
